2020 Summer Camp Counselor Information & Application

CAPA is pleased to offer Counselor Internships for our Summer Theatre Camps.  Counselor positions are open to students in grades 7-12 (2020-2021 School Year) and show interest in theatre and theatre education.  Counselors are looking to advance their training through hands on experience and have a deep commitment to the study of theatre arts.  Counselors will serve as an integral role to support our Summer Staff and will get to learn from theatre professionals with local and national credits.  Counselors gain valuable experience working with theatre professionals, enhancing their theatre knowledge and resume while networking with professionals.  Counselors are volunteer positions, however they can apply the internship hours toward required school community service hours or receive a discount to attend the High School Summer Camp.

Camp Counselors will serve in an integral role to support our summer educational programming.  Counselor will have responsibilities working with children ages 8-13 and duties can include any of the following:

  • Teaching Assistants Working with children is a challenge that we happily accept every day! Sometimes teachers need a little more help with larger groups. In that instance a counselor will be assigned to the group for as long as needed.
  • Office Management Running a camp takes a lot of work. Counselors may assist with day to day tasks such as handling photocopies, organizing camp materials, and assistance with registration.
  • Camp Management Morning check-in, space clean up, late drop-offs and early pickups take a smiling face and a helping hand. Counselors that interacts with our parents are the public face of CAPA Summer Camps.
  • Unforeseen Issues Management – Sometimes situations occur that need to be dealt with in a quick and careful manner in order to get back to the day to day routine of the camp.
  • CAPA Cheerleaders – A love for theater, the arts, friends, coworkers, and camp are a must. Help us showcase what camp has to offer and provide a positive vibe for staff and students alike.
  • Photography – We use pictures for marketing purposes, and the trick is getting great pictures of the fun at camp. Interns will be encouraged to capture the essence of what camp is really about.

Information:
We are looking for counselors for our Elementary School Camp and and can also use a few older students for our Middle School Camp.  Counselors are not needed for the high school show, however if you are interested in helping with props and costumes for the high school production, please include that in your application.
