Registration for 2017 Fall Group Classes will open July 17.

Creative Dance – Grades 1-2 – Fall 2017

  • Wednesday Classes – 3:30-4:15
  • Class Dates (10 Weeks) – 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8
  • Performance for family & friends: 11/8 @ 4pm
  • Instructor: Heather Hale
  • 10 weeks – $150

This high energy dance class is all about having fun, exploring movement concepts, developing dance skills, strengthening the body and brain all while interacting with others.  This solid technique based class will explore a variety of dance styles such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre.  The focus will be on the individual education and growth of each student.  Students will gain confidence, learn stage presence and stage energy.   Skills become more challenging throughout the year and a performance for families and friends will celebrate the end of the Fall semester.

  • Clothing
    • Girls: dance clothes such as leotards, footless tights, dance skirts, etc., t-shirts, leggings, bare feet.
    • Boys: sweat pants/shorts, t-shirts, bare feet.

Tuesday Classes – 3:30-4:15

Using Broadway’s greatest hits, students will focus on singing and dancing in this musical theatre class.  With the backdrop of some of the biggest songs to hit the stage, students will focus on Broadway Dance technique and musical theatre-style singing to bring out their inner star.  Students will delve into musical theatre techniques, expanding their vocabulary and skills. This class will culminate with a performance, costumes and all, for friends and family that will leave students with the confidence and skills to shine in any musical theatre endeavor.

Intermediate group guitar is designed for those students who have taken beginner group guitar classes.  In this series students will continue to improve upon their skills learned in beginner guitar and build upon foundational musicianship to set them up not only for guitar but other musical pursuits.

The lessons in this group guitar class series are set up and designed for complete beginners, no prior experience or knowledge is necessary to take these classes. In this series students will learn the basics of playing guitar plus foundational musicianship to set them up not only for guitar but other musical pursuits. Topics that will be covered include: how to correctly hold the instrument, basic chords, strumming, mistakes to avoid, elements and building blocks of music, ear training and a handful of songs to get them started.

Marcus Shields, Tenor – IHPA Private Vocal and Piano Instructor

Marcus is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and currently pursuing a Master’s degree (MM) in Vocal Performance from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Operatic credits include:  timothy Lauglin, Fellow Travelers (Cincinnati Opera Fusion), Tamino, Die Zauberflote (Opera on the Avalon, Greenville Opera), Soldat, Der Kaiser von Atlantis (New Millennium Orchestra), Albert Herring,  This fall and winter, Mr. Shields will be seen as the tenor soloist for Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 (CCM), Tony in West Side Story (The Carnegie), and Nerone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (CCM).  Mr. Shields received a Bachelor’s of Music (Vocal Performance/Musicology) from Northwestern University, where, in addition to singing, he served as an active member of the Musical Theatre community, both as a rehearsal pianist and conductor.
