Music Theatre Workshop – Grades 3-5

Music Theatre Workshop  – Welcome to the mystery and fun of Aladdin.  Come and join Aladdin, his friends and foes as we tell this famous tale.  In our weeks together each student will receive a script, roll(s) and an intensive exposure to completing a musical production.

All experience levels welcome. No auditions needed. All will be cast.  Each student will set their own goals as we help them further their acting/ character building skill learning the terms and techniques of stage acting, singing and dancing.  Students will have the opportunity to explore all three areas of study. This class concludes with a 40 min completed production for friends and family on the last day of class.

Creative Dance – Grades K-2 – Fall 2017

Creative Dance – Grades K-2 – Fall 2017

This high energy dance class is all about having fun, exploring movement concepts, developing dance skills, strengthening the body and brain all while interacting with others.  This solid technique based class will explore a variety of dance styles such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre.  The focus will be on the individual education and growth of each student.  Students will gain confidence, learn stage presence and stage energy.   Skills become more challenging throughout the year and a performance for families and friends will celebrate the end of the Fall semester.

  • Clothing
    • Girls: dance clothes such as leotards, footless tights, dance skirts, etc.,   t-shirts, leggings, bare feet.
    • Boys: sweat pants/shorts, t-shirts, bare feet.

Using Broadway’s greatest hits, students will focus on singing and dancing in this musical theatre class.  With the backdrop of some of the biggest songs to hit the stage, students will focus on Broadway Dance technique and musical theatre-style singing to bring out their inner star.  Students will delve into musical theatre techniques, expanding their vocabulary and skills. This class will culminate with a performance, costumes and all, for friends and family that will leave students with the confidence and skills to shine in any musical theatre endeavor.

The lessons in this group guitar class series are set up and designed for complete beginners, no prior experience or knowledge is necessary to take these classes. In this series students will learn the basics of playing guitar plus foundational musicianship to set them up not only for guitar but other musical pursuits. Topics that will be covered include: how to correctly hold the instrument, basic chords, strumming, mistakes to avoid, elements and building blocks of music, ear training and a handful of songs to get them started.

Musical Theater Lab – This class is specially designed to have the students create the storyline and characters.  With the instructors guidance the students will contribute their own creative ideas and talents.  Within the 12 weeks, students will write and perform their very own musical theatre production. In addition to acting exercises, the students focus will include improvisation, singing and dancing, crafting props and sets construction.The class will culminate with a performance for friends and family that will leave students with the confidence and skills to shine in any musical theatre endeavor.

Treasure Chest Theatre – Our treasure trunk provides a focus for each class, concealing something mysterious and exciting. We open the trunk to discover the items that inspires that day’s adventure in theater. We will create characters and develop a story to act out each class time. Students learn stage terms and technique, how to be an ensemble and use their voices, bodies, and imaginations.This class will culminate with a  performance for friends and family during the last week of class.

Jazz/Hip-Hop –  The forever evolving world of “jazz-funk” and current music make learning Hip Hop and Jazz styles incredibly dynamic and relevant for dancers. Jazz/Hip Hop is a popular class concept that infuses the funky style of hip hop with the technical side of jazz.  This is a wonderful introductory class for students.  They will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement.  This class will culminate with a  performance, costumes and all, for friends and family during the last week of class.
